Notes About Truffles

- unable to carry out photosynthesis, they live symbiotically with certain forest plants (using their chlorophyll).

- dogs, rather than sows, are used to hunt truffles (sows are attracted by the truffles' perfume, which closely resembles the musky pheromones of the male pig; unfortunately, the sows often become uncontrollably excited when close to the truffle).
